The Chat & Tasks panel

The Chat & Tasks panel: the team side — messages and @mentions, tasks with deadlines and shared statuses, the tasks the system creates — plus where the Agent tab fits, and how it's all scoped per brand.

The Chat & Tasks panel sits on the right of every page and does two jobs. Its first four tabs — All, Messages, My tasks and By me — are the team side: messages, @mentions, and tasks with deadlines and shared statuses, handed back and forth across the whole system. The fifth tab, Agent, is an AI assistant that answers from your live PLM data and makes changes for you — it has its own article, The Agent. This one covers the team side. Everything in the panel is scoped per brand: you see the chat, tasks and agent threads for the brand you're working in.

The Chat & Tasks panel open on the right of a product page — tabs All, Messages, My tasks, By me and Agent, a note to self and an open task in the feed, and the composer with the page attached as a linked chip

Opening the panel

Open it from the speech-bubble icon in the top bar — the bubble carries an unread count for what's waiting on you — or from the keyboard: ⌘ ⌥ C (Ctrl Alt C on Windows and Linux) opens the team side, ⌘ ⌥ A (Alt A) opens it straight on the Agent tab. The panel opens under the top bar beside the page you're on, and the composer picks that page up as a linked context chip, so whatever you write lands with a link back to the right place.

Messages and mentions

Write in the composer at the bottom of the panel. Type @ to address someone — pick an individual, or a role, which sends to everyone in it. The message carries the linked page, so the reader lands in the right context instead of hunting for it. With no one mentioned, the message is a note to self.

The tabs narrow the feed — All, Messages, My tasks and By me — with a search alongside, and each tab shows how many items it holds. In the task views, tasks are grouped by status — Open, Ongoing and Done — under collapsible headers with a count.

Turning a message into a task

To make a message a task, add a deadline with the calendar icon or use Assign Task instead of Send. A task carries its due date and a status — Open, Ongoing or Done. The status is shared: when one recipient marks it done it's done for everyone, and the panel records who closed it and when. Tasks assigned to you sit under My tasks; tasks you've handed to others sit under By me.

Tasks the system creates for you

Some tasks aren't written by a person — the system raises them itself and marks them as system tasks. It does this when something needs a human (for example, a sample-round email that couldn't be delivered, or a timeline gate that is running late and gets a Nudge) and as scheduled reminders. They appear in the panel like any other task, with the same statuses.

One feed per brand

Chat, tasks and agent threads are scoped to the brand you're in: switch brand and you see that brand's messages and tasks, not the others'. Within a brand, the feed is personal to you.
